Prayer Heals

In my post titled Heal the Blind I shared with you the compelling story of Joey and Rory.

Last year, Joey gave birth to a wonderful baby girl who was diagnosed with Down Syndrome. A routine, follow-up exam revealed that Joey had cervical cancer. Then, Rory’s mom passed away.

Joey said in an earlier interview:

“Our faith is the most important thing in our lives.”

Rory added:

“As God often reveals, what seemed like our biggest fears are [in the end] our greatest joys.”

Joey underwent a successful hysterectomy, and required no further treatment. However, Rory posted an update on their Facebook page that the cancer has returned.

You probably don’t know these people, but I ask that you might include Joey in your prayers.

Is anyone among you suffering? Then he must pray. Is anyone cheerful? He is to sing praises. Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him … (James 5:13-15).

Lord, I pray for your healing touch upon Joey and any who are sick. May our faith be as great as the centurion (Luke 7:7) that your anointing word might come from heaven with great and mighty power to heal those who are infirmed. We praise and glorify Your holy name.
